In December of 2004, Sony released a new console that would forever change the way we play video games. It was the PlayStation 2, a revolutionary machine capable of performing immensely complex calculations and visuals for a fraction of the cost. The PS2 is one of those consoles that defines its generation, and has been widely credited as being responsible for ushering in an age where high-quality console gaming became commonplace. But if you have ever logged into your PS2 to play games from the first ten years after it debuted, you may have noticed something strange: certain games refuse to load past a certain point. Some games will not load at all. Some games will just be extremely slow and unresponsive. And others, well, you know what I'm talking about. These are the infamous "sparking" issues that some games have on Sony's PlayStation 2. However, while some people may have some kind of vague idea of what causes these problems, there are no simple solutions to the issue. Here is a list of the most common symptoms of this problem so you can better understand why your games are acting up on Sony's beloved console. The symptoms of the sparking issue vary from game to game. Some games will just load up normally, but others will completely freeze at a certain point or exhibit severe graphical glitches. Sometimes, your PS2's system menu will start to become sluggish and unresponsive. These symptoms could manifest themselves at any time after playing a game for an hour or so. There is not an exact pattern to the sparking issue. Sometimes it occurs immediately after putting a disc into your PS2, and sometimes it does not occur for twenty minutes or longer. Sparking issues can happen on one disc and not another of the same game, even if both discs were burned at the exact same time by the exact same brand of CD burner. Also, some games will spark right away when you play them, while others may never spark at all - but once it sparks, your game is pretty much permanently damaged. In other words, if a disc has sparking issues, there's no turning back. It will only get worse. It's the equivalent of letting a crack in your wall slowly spread out until your house crumbles down around you. Because these symptoms vary so widely from game to game, it can be incredibly difficult for people to determine whether or not their PS2 is having sparking issues or not. This is why I made this comprehensive resource detailing the symptoms of this problem in order to help you determine whether your PS2 is experiencing sparking issues or not. The symptoms may change from game to game, but I've learnt that if your PS2 is experiencing any of the following effects, then you are likely experiencing sparking problems. 1) Your PS2 becomes difficult to power on. After turning it on, you may have difficulty powering it on completely. This is because the mainboard may be overloaded with information, or your power supply is faulty. Either way, powering it on is extremely lengthy and takes a few tries to do so. You will also be greeted by a "Please Wait" screen during the startup process if the problem persists after powering it up five or so times. cfa1e77820
